Crossing The Line by Meghan Rogers

This is a great spy thriller–something YA doesn’t have enough of–with a strong female main character. It’s full of action, but it’s also full of heart. Jocelyn is both believably self-reliant and yet appropriately vulnerable. We need more characters like her!

Last Seen Leaving by Caleb Roehrig

This book is both a fantastic mystery and a compelling coming-of-age story with a gay male main character. It had me on the edge of my seat and made my heart ache at the same time! If you’re looking for a book that keeps you guessing (and gasping) to the last page, this is that book!

The Reader by Traci Chee

This book is an imaginative fantasy that features rootable characters and an amazing world. There are pirates and assassins, but even worse–this story takes place in a world without reading–a world where books are magical and possessing one is dangerous. Great for lovers of fantasy!
