Many people set goals for the new year, including reading more books. Setting book reading goals can be a great way to motivate yourself to read more and expand your bookshelf and mind. Here are a few tips for setting book reading goals and staying consistent.
- Decide how many books you want to read – This could be a specific number of books per month, year, or longer! Be mindful of other things you may have going on, like after-school activities, hobbies, and more that you also want to participate in, so you can set a reasonable goal for yourself.
- Pick interesting books – Make a list of books you’ve been wanting to read or research books that go along with your interests. This will make it easier to pick, read, and check books off of your list!
- Track your progress – Make a list, whether physical or digital, of books you want to read and/or have read so you can keep up with your goal. This will keep you motivated and help you celebrate as you finish a read!
Don’t forget – reading should be fun! Don’t stress yourself out trying to meet your goals. You can always adjust your goal, and that’s perfectly okay! The main thing is to find great books and to enjoy them!
