Leah Recommends:
Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan
Any book where finding family in unlikely places is at its core, is a book for me. I love these kinds of stories because family is so important to me. I think I told every one I know (and even strangers) about this book after I read it and still do.
Fish in a Tree by Linda Mullally Hunt
This is another of those books you want to give to everyone you know. There is something in it for everybody because it is filled with compassion and at the heart, it is about overcoming challenges and we all have experienced those.
Each child’s experience with the harmonica is so uniquely their own. I love that.
It’s got a loving grandpa, a curious boy, and a circus—what’s not to love?!?
Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper
Talk about getting into a character’s mind, I was in Melody’s every moment. Her voice is still in my mind.
I absolutely adore a story like this. It’s not only got the coolest pets, but it has the best kind of friendships. Definitely check it out even if you usually wander past the picture books. You won’t be sorry. 🙂
